Finish the Castle Fund Drive!

      Steamer No.10 Theatre spent its first century as a working firehouse and the past two decades as Albany’s Children’s Theatre. Over the past six years the Steamer No.10 Theatre has undertaken various Capital improvements including: new seating, new carpeting, improved handicapped accessibility in the form of a new ramp with a gentler grade, and improved exterior lighting. Perhaps most notably, we are adding a new entrance which has been designed to evoke the appearance of a castle in order to stimulate imaginations, blend into the original architecture, and serve as a city landmark - just look for the drawbridge! City of Albany Gardner Judy Stacey has even been supplying us with a little color in the springtime.

But the castle isn't just cosmetic. It  will house our box office and an expanded concession stand. It will also serve as a warm, dry, indoor waiting area for patrons before the house is ready to open. It will host birthday parties, be used as a workshop space for rehearsals and our C.A.S.T. program, and serve as a meeting area for community organizations.

But before it can do any of these things, we need your help.

We are in the final phase of a $300,000 Capital Campaign - the Finish the Castle Fund Drive! We need to raise $150,000 to complete the Castle and landscape around it. If you haven't stopped by to see us in person lately, we hope that you'll come take a look at how things are progressing and perhaps find some way that you can contribute. It is only with the new, renewed, or continued support of the Steamer Community that we can Finish the Castle and we invite you to be a Member of that Community.
