Membership Intro

It is only through the generosity of our patrons that we can bring the wonder and magic of live theatre to the next generation. Each year we ask you our valued patrons to join our member family. Membership is what helps keep tickets affordable and pay for the basic needs of the theater such as heat, electricity, telephones, and internet service.

Your donation allows us to close the gap between what it actually costs to run the Steamer No.10 Theatre and the funds generated by ticket sales. The most important reason to become a member, though, is because you like what we do and want us to continue. With your help we will continue to bring the magic of live theatre to the children and families of the Capital Region.

* Memberships last for one season, starting on September 1st and ending on August 31st of the next calendar year

Double Your Donation – Will your employer match your charitable donation to Steamer No.10? It doubles your commitment to the arts.

Steamer No. 10 Theatre, Inc. is a tax exempt, not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation as recognized by the IRS. Please consult with your tax advisor about deductibility of donations.

Birthday Parties

Birthday Parties

How a Steamer No. 10 Birthday Party Works:

A Steamer No.10 birthday party includes time for cake, presents and general merriment followed by a showing of our current Kids’ Fare performance. In general, we host birthday parties before a 3 o’clock performance, so that your afternoon will go as follows:

  • 1:30 p.m. Family members arrive at Steamer No.10 to set up. We provide the space and a table in the back; you provide the cake, ice cream, drinks, paper-ware, etc…
  • 1:45 p.m. Guests arrive and the party can start!
  • 2:20 p.m. The guest of honor has already finished cake, and he or she begins to open presents. After presents, all of the guests get first-choice of seats in the theater. Meanwhile, we clear away the table and we open the house for the show.

Following the performance, the actors come out to meet the audience, shake hands, curtsy, and wish the guest of honor a very happy birthday. The Birthday Child will also be presented with a program signed by the entire cast of the show as well as two complimentary tickets for the Kids’ Fareperformance(s) of choice.

How to Schedule a Steamer No.10 Birthday Party:

We ask that you first become a Member at the Knight level (a $100 donation) or higher. Second, we encourage you let us know as far as possible in advance:

  1. How many people, including adults, you are expecting to attend
  2. The date & time of the party

The cost of the party is simply the cost of the tickets at the Steamer 10 Pass rate- $9 per ticket.

We are in the process of building a lobby onto the theater that will give us a greater ability to accommodate parties in the future. Given our current space availability, however, we find that this is the best and most fun birthday party plan!

If you would like to talk to a staff member about scheduling a party, please call (518) 438-5503 or e-mail info@steamer10theatre.org.

Capital Campaign: Finish the Castle

Finish the Castle

Finish the Castle: Help Bring Our Plans to Life

Finish the Castle Fund Drive!

Steamer No.10 Theatre spent its first century as a working firehouse and the past two decades as Albany’s Children’s Theatre. Over the past six years the Steamer No.10 Theatre has undertaken various Capital improvements including: new seating, new carpeting, improved handicapped accessibility in the form of a new ramp with a gentler grade, and improved exterior lighting. Perhaps most notably, we are adding a new entrance which has been designed to evoke the appearance of a castle in order to stimulate imaginations, blend into the original architecture, and serve as a city landmark – just look for the drawbridge! City of Albany Gardner Judy Stacey has even been supplying us with a little color in the springtime.

But the castle isn’t just cosmetic. It  will house our box office and an expanded concession stand. It will also serve as a warm, dry, indoor waiting area for patrons before the house is ready to open. It will host birthday parties, be used as a workshop space for rehearsals and our C.A.S.T. program, and serve as a meeting area for community organizations.

But before it can do any of these things, we need your help.

We are in the final phase of a $300,000 Capital Campaign – the Finish the Castle Fund Drive! We need to raise $150,000 to complete the Castle and landscape around it. If you haven’t stopped by to see us in person lately, we hope that you’ll come take a look at how things are progressing and perhaps find some way that you can contribute. It is only with the new, renewed, or continued support of the Steamer Community that we can Finish the Castle and we invite you to be a Member of that Community.
